REQUIREMENTS AND PREVIOUS RECOMMENDED KNOWLEDGE
Students are expected to have passed "News Reporting". Moreover, it is also advisable to have completed another writing course on how to write reports, interviews and features for printed media.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE SUBJECT
During this first introduction to the radio, we will learn the basics of its language and the several expressive and narrative possibilities provided by this medium. For that, we will focus on producing 4 of the most commonly used radio genres: news, reports, interviews and features. At the end of the semester, students –organized by groups– will have to produce a 20 minute radio program including news, reports, interviews, a feature, and several other elements. The information will have to be organized in varied sections: politics, economics, society, culture, sports, and service information at the end.
AIMS: SKILLS & KNOWLEDGES
a) To learn the particularities of the radio language

c) To learn how to analyze, identify and produce radio reports
d) To learn how to analyze, identify and produce radio interviews
e) To learn how to analyze, identify and produce radio features
f) To learn how to produce radio vox pops
g) To learn how to produce batteries of radio headlines
h) To learn how to produce batteries of radio briefs
i) To learn how to produce radio news programs
TEACHING MATERIAL
The teaching material is composed of the 5 Power Point presentations incluing audio files, as well as of the mandatory literature.
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES OR PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENTS
a) 50% practice
b) 40% theory (assessed on the Final Exam)
c) 10% participation in lectures and classroom discussion
It is mandatory to attend the practice sessions
