GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

This is a basic course that introduces the fundamentals of electrical power engineering, making special emphasis on the analysis of electric circuits. The course is directed to students of first and second year of Engineering degrees.

OBJECTIVES: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

After taking the course students will be able to analyse DC and AC circuits of different degree of complexity. The provided tools will be applied in further courses such as Electric Machines or Electronics. The study of balanced three-phase systems is also included in the course as introduction to Power Systems analysis.

TEACHING MATERIAL

The provided material includes the theory notes for the four modules and the slides that contains a summary of the contents of each module.

 PRACTICAL ASSIGMENTS AND ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

The course includes a collection of exercises that may be use to practice the contents of the course. The exercises are distributed in 11 worksheets that correspond to the contents that are taught each week of the term. The numeric answers to the problems are included for self assessment.
